Srinagar, 01 May: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Party President Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday said people of Anantnag-Rajouri will give a big blow to those hatching conspiracy to deprive Gujjar-Bakarwal population from exercising their franchise.

He made these comments while addressing a series of massive election rallies in Kotranka and Thanamandi organised by DDC Chairman Naseem Liaqat and Muzaffar Khan respectively.

In his address Dr Farooq said, “BJP & its allies have developed cold feet due to the ground swell of support on ground for NC. In reality BJP is in panic mode as it is losing badly in the ensuing elections. It has already lost Udhampur & Jammu seats. BJP stands wiped out in the plains of Jammu. They fear that they are losing this election too and scared of it, their only strategy is now to defer the polls. Deferring polls is to benefit the BJP and its allies but all such nefarious designs will not yield anticipated results as people will dust their plans and vote against them.”

He further exhorted people to remain cautious of BJP & its communal designs. “They can go to any extent to grab power. They will create divisions between communities to achieve their end. BJP is leaving no stone unturned to grab power by playing communal card in order to prevail upon common and poor masses through exploitive means but people are determined to give them a befitting reply and will never allow them to grab power. Our people understand their designs. They will not allow them to weaken JK’s secular fabric, unity and integrity. People have made it a point to bid good bye to BJP.”

Earlier in the day Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Party Candidate for Anantnag- Rajouri Mian Altaf Ahmad paid obeisance at the Shadra Sharief Shrine, where they prayed for lasting peace and prosperity in J&K.

Among others Rattan Lal Gupta Provincial President Jammu, Vikar Rasool Congress State President, Shabir Khan former minister Congress, Sian Rashid DDC, Mushtaq Shawal Block President Thanamandi, Ch. Maqbool Hussain, Noor Hussain, Shamim Mughal, Ch. Liaqet Ali Central Secretary Advocate, Naseem Liaqet DDC Chairman Rajouri, Ch.Mohd Shaffi, Abdul Rashid Zonal Secretary, Saki Mohd Block President, Ghulam Abass Block President Peeri, Bader Din Block President Rajnagar- Budhal, Ghulam Hussain Block President Khawas and others were present on the occasion.

Deferment Anantnag-Rajouri elections aimed to disenfranchise nomadic tribes: Omar Abdullah

Srinagar, 01 May: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Wednesday accused the BJP of delaying the BJP of deferring polls in  Anantnag-Rajouri due to a fear of defeat.

Speaking at a workers meet in Anantnag, Omar said, “The BJP has realised that they will be wiped out in Jammu and the parties and system which they tried to put up in Kashmir are not working as people are not ready to accept them, so they are deferring the election. The decision of ECI taken yesterday was a glaring example of conspiracy. The commission was silent when incessant rains lashed J&K when favorable weather conditions restored they rescheduled the polling. This was aimed to deprive the nomadic community of Pir Panchal region from the right to vote.”

He said the decision was taken on the pleas of those who are not contesting polls there. “NC wrote to ECI that those who are seeking to postpone the elections are not even in the field. But our plea was not heard seriously, because the rescheduling of polls was aimed to deprive nomads people from exercising their right to vote, but we are hopeful those hatched conspiracies at this juncture will be dusted on polling day,” he said.

He alleged that BJP believes in divide and rule policy like the British was playing but NC and its cadre won’t give up and will continue to defeat them and represent the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

On the occasion, he welcomed noted political activist and former PDP Youth leader from Dialgam Imran Ahmad Shah along with his supporters into the party fold. He extended warm wishes to the new entrants hoping that the party will benefit from his experience in public life & social service.

Later in the day, he addressed a workers convention organized by AICC General  secretary Ghulam Ahmad  Mir at Nadrora Dooru. Among others Treasurer Shammi Oberoi, Political Advisor to VP Mudassar Shahmiri, Syed Tawqeer, Altaf Ahmad Kaloo, Surinder Singh Cheeni ji, Shaheena Nadaf ,Ali Mohammad Mantoo ,Farooq Ahmad, Umesh Talashi ,Anees Ul islam ,Ali Mohammad wani, Farooq Ahmad khan ,Mohammad Iqbal Mir, Akther Ahmad kasana (DDC), Shabir Ahmad (DDC)  Farooz Ahmad wani, Mohammad Saleem Ganie were also present on the occasion.
