Calls Sports a “Strategic Instrument” for Peace and Nation-Building in J&K

SOPORE, Dec 01 : Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sopore, Ifthkar Talib, (JKPS) urged young athletes to channel their energy and creativity into sports, emphasizing that such pursuits cultivate essential life skills including discipline, teamwork, and positive engagement.
Speaking at the inauguration of a volleyball championship at Khushal Sports Stadium, SSP Talib as per The Web Story/The Varmul Post stated that the primary objective of organizing such events is to promote peace, brotherhood, and healthy engagement among the youth. He further highlighted their role in steering young people away from the menace of drug addiction.
“Players should utilize their energy and creativity through sports to become successful athletes,” the SSP said.
Elaborating on the broader strategy, Mr. Talib explained that large-scale sporting events are organized to foster peace, brotherhood, and healthy competition. He positioned these initiatives as crucial for creating a robust front against the growing scourge of drug addiction.
Framing sports as more than mere recreation, the SSP described them as a strategic instrument for social transformation and nation-building in Jammu & Kashmir.
“Our mission is to channel the immense energy and potential of our young population into constructive and healthy pursuits,” Mr. Talib said. “Sports build character, teach discipline, and, most importantly, unite people beyond the barriers of region, religion, or background,” he added.
