SOPORE, Dec 01: Joint Director Education North Kashmir Hakeem Tanveer Ahmad (JKAS) emphasized that sports are a critical imperative for the holistic development and future safeguarding of Kashmir’s youth.

Speaking exclusively to The Web Story / The Varmul Post during a sporting event here, the senior official underscored the multifaceted role of athletics. “Sports are indispensable—not merely for physical fitness but equally for mental and emotional well-being,” he stated. “Given the contemporary challenges confronting our young people, proactive engagement through structured sports is vital. It serves to channel energy positively and build resilience.”

When asked about limited school-based sports activities during winter, the Joint Director clarified the existing framework. “Our students consistently participate in and excel at district, union territory, and national-level competitions. Selected athletes continue their training and competitive schedules throughout the season,” he explained.

He also commended the Sopore District Police, under the leadership of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iftikhar Talib (JKPS), for organizing community sporting events, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts in fostering youth engagement.
