Uri, Mar 15 : Security forces foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, eliminating a terrorist in an overnight operation officials said on Sunday.
Official sources informed news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) based on a specific intelligence input provided by the Jammu and Kashmir Police regarding an infiltration attempt, a joint operation was launched on the intervening night of March 14 and 15 in the general area of Buchhar, Uri.
Officials said that alert troops spotted the suspicious movement of a terrorist hiding in the thicket. The ambush was readjusted, and the terrorist was challenged by the security forces, following which he opened indiscriminate fire.
In the ensuing encounter, a terrorist of Pakistani origin was eliminated. Warlike stores, including an AK series rifle, pistols, and a large quantity of ammunition, were recovered from the site of the encounter.
Meanwhile, the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army in a post on X said that “Operation Diggi 2” continues in the area, confirming the infiltration bid had been successfully thwarted. (KNS)
