Handwara, October 26: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah asserted that the three new Rajya Sabha members from Jammu and Kashmir will not succumb to what he termed the “pollution of Delhi”—a metaphor for the isolating effect of the national capital’s politics.

Addressing a gathering in Handwara, CM Omar as per The Web Story/The Varmul Post, drew a contrast with the past, stating that previous representatives often lost their voice after being affected by Delhi’s political environment.

“Sometimes, the influence of Delhi’s pollution affects our colleagues,” the Chief Minister stated, using a metaphor for the capital’s political climate. “We have sent senior, experienced leaders in the past, but they too were affected. Their voices, once they reached Delhi, became inaudible to us back here.”

“Sher-e-Kashmir sent some people, Faroog Sahab sent some. I will not take names, some of them are still alive and in the same condition. I, too, sent people,
and the same thing happened to me and their voices were no longer heard by us,” the Chief Minister said.

However, he added, “This time, I am fully confident that the three members we are sending to the Rajya Sabha will strongly represent the people and will speak up
for them.”
