Sopore, Aug. 27: In yet another incredible achievement for Sopore, a young and dynamic footballer from Tulibal Sopore, Tajamul Islam, has made his way to the FC Goa squad for the Goa Professional League 2023-2024 that will be played from August 27th, 2023, at Duler Stadium in Mapusa.
The Goa Professional League is a multi-team football tournament that is organized to find young talent who have already represented India in the junior categories or have played professional leagues like the ISL, which can lead to their selection in the senior teams. This year, the league will have 24 teams from all over Goa.
Tajamul Islam already represented India in the U-17 category last year as a goalkeeper, and his impressive performances have led him to selection in the FC Goa team, which is one of the top football clubs in the country.
Tajamul has signed a 3-year contract deal with the team and will be playing as a goalkeeper for FC Goa.
“I am really excited about my selection in the FC Goa squad; it’s a big club, and to be able to make it to their squad is a huge achievement. I would like to thank FC Goa management for believing in me, and I hope I will perform to the best of my abilities and make the team proud. Tajamul said.
Tajamul also highlighted the fact that his continuous hard work and support from his family, friends, teammates, and coaches have made it possible for him to achieve these things at a very young age.
“My family, friends, teammates, and coaches have been massive supporters throughout my journey so far. There have been ups and downs in my career, and these people have backed me at every stage, and by the grace of Almighty, my performances in several categories have been impressive, and as a result, I got the offer from FC Goa management, and I finally was able to make it to the S squad. Tajamul further added
Tajamul Islam’s entry in the squad for the Goa Pro League has almost opened the gates for him to make it big in the near future and represent the senior FC Goa team in big leagues like the Indian Super League (ISL), and better performances will mean an entry into the national team as well.
“This team is actually the reserve team of the senior FC Goa team, and if I am able to perform well here for my team, I can get the opportunity to make it to the senior team as well. As I have a very good physique and a tall height, I practice with the senior team members regularly, and it’s a great learning experience for me. I hope I will do justice to my talent and live up to the expectations of my team. Tajamul concluded.
FC Goa will kick off their journey on August 27 in the opening match of the Goa Pro League against Churchill Brothers FC at Duler Stadium, and it remains to be seen whether Tajamul will make it the first XI of the team.
