National Award-winning actor Zaira Wasim‘s father has passed away, the Dangal star posted late Tuesday evening. Zaira took to Instagram and shared a throwback picture with her father, Zahid Wasim, where she is seen kissing him as a toddler.
Zaira posted the image on her Instagram page writing, “Verily the eyes shed tears and the heart grieves, but we will not say except that which is pleasing to our Lord. My father, Zahid Wasim, has passed away. Please remember him in your prayers and ask Allah to forgive his shortcomings, make his grave peaceful, protect him from its torment, ease his journey from here ahead.
“May he be called to an easy accounting and be granted the highest level of Jannah and Maghrirah. Indeed, we belong to Allah, and Indeed, to Him, we shall return.”
The actor also took to her Instagram story to inform that her father’s funeral was taking place at Masjid Mohammadiyah in Srinagar. Fans and well-wishers of Zaira posted condolence messages on her Instagram page.
Zaira was last seen in Shonali Bose’s The Sky is Pink, which also starred Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Farhan Akhtar. She had also appeared in the lead role in Advait Chandan’s blockbuster hit film Secret Superstar in 2017, which was her second film after Dangal headlined by Aamir Khan.
It was on June 30, 2019, that Zaira announced her “disassociation” from the field of acting, saying she was not happy with the line of work as it interfered with her faith and religion. In a detailed post on her Facebook page, the Kashmiri-born said she realised “though I may fit here perfectly, I do not belong here.”
