North Kashmir’s social activist, Tasleema Akhtar, made a passionate plea for peace in the valley during her address at the United Nations.
As per the Web Story, Akhtar called for an end to the turmoil that has plagued Kashmir and highlighted the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the longstanding conflict. She emphasized the need to prioritize the well-being of innocent civilians, particularly women, children, and the elderly, who have borne the brunt of the unrest.
“I have witnessed the violence and killing of innocent persons by terrorism since my childhood… The suffering knows no boundaries, affecting women, children, the elderly, and the young alike,” explained Akhtar in her powerful speech.
Akhtar passionately appealed to the international community to take notice of the plight of Kashmiris. Calling for justice, she urged the UN Human Rights Council to take appropriate action against the perpetrators responsible for these heinous acts.
