Srinagar, Jan 21 : Ahead of Republic Day, tight security arrangements have been put into place across Jammu and Kashmir. While additional security personnel are being deployed on highways and vital road links to thwart any untoward incident in the region.
A senior civil officer told The Web Story/The Varmul Post that all arrangements have been finalized for the January 26 celebrations in Kashmir. We have finalized all arrangements from top to bottom level including venues, security, and other things, he said.
“We have also instructed all the Deputy Commissioners to review the security arrangements at their local level and stated that everything is in place for smooth celebrations,” he said.
Meanwhile, Security has has also been beefed up in Jammu ahead of Republic Day celebrations, with the police making the M A Stadium, the main venue of the function, out of bounds for public as a precautionary measure.
The security wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police has taken control of the stadium, where Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will preside over the Republic Day function with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah as the chief guest.
A senior police officer told The Web Story/The Varmul Post that the venue has been restricted to the general public as a security measure. Sanitization of the main venue and its surrounding areas has been completed, he added.
Pertinently, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary and Cabinet ministers Javid Ahmad Dar, Sakina Itto, Satish Sharma, and Javed Rana will take the salute at functions in Srinagar, Baramulla, Anantnag, Kathua, and Udhampur districts, respectively, as per an order issued by the General Administration Department.
In the remaining 14 districts, respective District Development Council (DDC) chairpersons will take the salute at the main functions to be held at the district headquarters reads the order.
