170 Lifesavers Donate Blood for a Noble Cause

WS/VP Desk

Sopore, Nov 22 : In Kashmir, amidst the increasing trend of autumn festivals being celebrated in educational institutions, government organisations, and private firms, a noble initiative that can save lives was also evident. A blood donation camp was held on Friday in north Kashmir’s Sopore.

The camp was organized by Sopore Blood Donors in collaboration with the Government Medical College, Baramulla at Darul Uloom Maharjpora.

Throughout the day-long camp, 170 volunteers from various parts of Sopore donated blood under the supervision of a special team of doctors from GMC Baramulla and SDH Sopore.

The event was attended by Sopore MLA Irshad Rasool, who as per The Web Story/The Varmul Post emphasized the importance of such camps in society, stating that each effort can save lives. He stressed the significance of community participation in these initiatives, “We regularly face situations where blood is urgently needed, especially during complex deliveries. These camps really help ensure that we have enough reserves to address those emergencies.”

Inam Faisal, the founder of Sopore Blood Donors, expressed gratitude to all the donors and participants for their overwhelming response. He underscored the importance of organizing such camps, as they provide a platform for volunteers and staff to contribute to this humanitarian cause. He also highlighted the need for more initiatives like this in Sopore to foster a stronger sense of community and solidarity.

The entire program was sponsored by Zero Miles Grill and Cafe Sopore.

Jibran Khan, the CEO of the cafe, said “It brings me immense joy to contribute to such occasions and serve people, who are truly the unsung heroes of society, responding to needs in times of crisis.”

Jibran Khan stated that as healthcare institutions continue to face challenges, these events play a crucial role in ensuring that no life is lost due to a lack of blood. He expressed the desire for more such camps to be held, so that we can genuinely contribute to the betterment of society.
