Bandipora: As the only road connecting Gurez Valley with the rest of the world has been closed due to heavy snowfall, the district administration in north Kashmir’s Bandipora has started helicopter services to ease out the problems of people.
According to Suhail Rather, principal correspondent of The Web Story, the helicopter service has been started to keep people of Gurez valley connected with the rest of the world, especially in medical emergencies.
An official said that the helicopter service will also boost the winter tourism in Gurez and bring some cheer to the villagers who reside in the valley.
Earlier Gurez would remain cut off from the rest of the world for seven months due to heavy snowfall. But after the abrogation of Article 370, the LG led government is at its best for making all possible arrangements for this valley.
Deputy commissioner Bandipora Dr. Owais Ahmad (IAS) told The Web Story that the service has been started for the locals, and the department has also provided helpline numbers in case of any medical emergency.
He said that the administration will make every possible effort to keep this service intact so that the locals do not suffer this winter.
“The district administration will try to keep the service open amid heavy snowfall as well,” DC Bandipora said.
