Dismisses ‘Emotional Tactics’ of Opponents, Says People Are Mature Enough

Kreeri, Sep 09: The former law minister, Syed Basharat Bukhari, and the People’s Democratic Party’s Contesting Candidate stated that he is fighting the assembly elections with hope and faith of winning.

Speaking exclusively with The Web Story/The Varmul Post, Syed Basharat Bukhari said that his mindset is to win this assembly election because of the work he did for his people, and he is very hopeful to get victory. He explained that everyone has the right to fight, and no one can damage anyone – “someone wins, someone loses.”

He further explained, “If the purpose is to come out for the people’s work, or to further the work that has been done, then it sounds good. But if the purpose is to defeat someone in the election contest, then it’s unfortunate. I am ultimately of the thought that I have come out to serve the people, and with the grace of Allah, He will also give me the strength.”

Reacting to the Awami Ittihad Party (AIP) wave in Kreeri belt, Syed Basharat Bukhari said that this time the emotional wave will not work anymore. “In the previous election, the people voted with the thought that Engineer Rashid will be released from jail, but this time it’s different and people will not support this emotional wave. People have also realized that their vote was misused, despite voting for him, Engineer Rashid could not be released from jail. Another factor was to vote for Engineer Rashid, people thought that they could frustrate BJP by doing so. He said now we are suffering as we don’t have any voice in parliament.”

Reacting to the resignation of PDP leaders, he said, “Every political party’s ultimate goal is how to win. He said two things are very important – the party’s vision, and the party’s winnability. Then only the vision can be implemented, because that plays an important role. As for those who did not get the mandate and then left the party, each one has their own different thoughts on politics. This is a democratic system, and the party’s system works this way.”

Regarding his strategy towards this assembly election, he said, “I fought two elections and I never told people I will do this. I came out only to represent the people, and it were the people who chose me and who elected me. My only effort was to work for the people.”

The Assembly Elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir have reached an unexpected stage, unfolding a new dynamic with every passing moment. As political developments are changing on every seat, a healthy and neck-to-neck competition is expected, while the Wagoora Assembly seat has already become a political battleground with day-to-day political developments, be it the NC-Congress Alliance, the homecoming of PDP leader, or the DDC winner chairperson. Each new development is making the political stage more interesting.
