The fishermen Association and volunteers Thursday called off the search and rescue operation for the missing girl who jumped in river Jhelum on December 12 in north Kashmir’s Sopore town.
The search and rescue operation entered its 11th day on December 22.
President Fishermen Sopore Farooq Ahmad told The Web Story over the phone that they have called off the rescue operation after 11 days.
He said that his teams tried their best to retrieve the body however failed to do so.
“Despite experts from the fishermen community locally and other areas of Kashmir who joined hands to locate the drowned girl, we couldn’t locate the girl. Hence we called off the rescue operation,” he added.
Meanwhile, SDRF officer said that their efforts to retrieve the body from the Jhelum are on.
“Today our team was on job throughout the day and will continue to put in our efforts,” he added.
The Fishermen Association President said that the people are now coming on the spot to kill time l, click photos, videos and if anything goes wrong then everyone will target the fishermen community. We don’t want to take any chances,” he added.
He said they tried their level best and people from different parts of Kashmir joined the rescue teams but luck was not on their side.
