Srinagar, Jan 26 : Kashmir’s long dry spell has finally come to an end, as the higher reaches of the region received snowfall and light rain in the plains.
This much-needed moisture brought relief after nearly two months of unprecedented dryness.
Reports reaching The Web Story/The Varmul Post said the picturesque ski resort of Gulmarg and other tourist spots woke up to a blanket of white snow, while there was light snowfall in other higher reaches such as Sonamarg and Gurez. In the plains, there was light rainfall reports added.
The weather forecast predicts light rain over the plains and isolated snowfall in higher reaches on January 26-27, followed by the possibility of light to moderate rain and snow on January 28-29, and widespread rain and snow on January 30-31.
Pertinently, this winter has been exceptionally dry, with no snowfall in the plains and very little snow in the upper reaches, including Gulmarg.
