The Union Territory (UT) is set to establish all-women polling booths ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
During a press conference today, the Election Commission of India (ECI) Rajiv Kumar as per The Web Story announced that these unique booths, which will be exclusively staffed by women, will be implemented in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The ECI revealed that all positions at these special booths, including presiding officers, polling officers, micro observers, and security personnel, will be occupied by women.
A total of around 80 booths will be operated solely by female staff members.
Furthermore, the ECI emphasized that special booths will be provided to accommodate differently-abled individuals.
Hs said all polling stations will offer comprehensive facilities and will be adorned festively to encourage maximum voter turnout.
Additionally, in a bid to ensure inclusivity, senior citizens who are unable to visit polling stations will be granted the opportunity to vote from home, with proper videography measures in place.
