The Awantipora Police on Tuesday claimed arrest of groom and his father following groom’s mysterious vanishing during wedding reception.
Police in a statement issued to The Web Story said On September 19, 2023, Shazia Akhter lodged a written complaint against Fayaz Ahmad Dar and his father, Mohammad Shahban Dar, both residents of Kandizal Awantipora, accusing them of orchestrating the groom’s disappearance.
According to the complaint, the couple had already had their Nikah and the wedding reception was scheduled for September 16. However, just moments before the reception, the groom’s side called off the event, claiming that the groom had fled and refused to attend. This shocking revelation left Shazia and her family devastated, as it invalidated their Nikah.
Taking swift action, the Awantipora Police registered FIR No 182/2023 under sections 420 (cheating) and 498(A) (cruelty towards a woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Both the groom and his father were promptly arrested, and a thorough investigation is now underway to uncover the truth behind this extraordinary turn of events.
