Young Cinematographer from Sopore Town Wins Third Prize in Short Film Contest

Umar Dar, a young and talented cinematographer from Sopore town, has emerged victorious in a short film competition. His captivating work in the movie titled “Magic Lamp” has left the audience spellbound and secured him the prestigious third prize.
Media Studies at Government Degree College (GDC) Baramulla organized a media festival. The event witnessed the participation of media institutions from Kashmir as well as other states, along with several independent media professionals.
Winning the first prize in the film competition was “Aisha” by the Department of Media Studies at M.A Road, Srinagar. Garnering the second prize was “Kasa Darov,” an outstanding creation by Loyola College in Chennai. Finally, Umar Dar’s breathtaking short film “Magic Lamp,” produced by S.R.M Welkin, attained the well-deserved third position in this fiercely contested competition.
In an exclusive interview with The Web Story, Umar Dar expressed his gratitude for the recognition received, acknowledging that his journey has just begun.
