Srinagar, Mar 27 : Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Wednesday termed the statement of Union Home Minister Amit Shah over removal of AFSPA a misleading one.

He said the way people of Ladakh have been cheated over restoration of Statehood and 6th Schedule, the Union Home Minister is resorting to same with the people of Jammu & Kashmir ahead of Lok Sabha elections.

“If New Delhi is admitting everything is normal in Jammu and Kashmir, even militancy and separatism are over then I believe it is high time to remove AFSPA and withdraw troops.

There should be no need to wait further,” Omar Abdullah told reporters in Budgam. He said the remarks made by Union Home Minister are deceitful ahead of Lok Sabha elections with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.“We are witness what the central government did with the people of Ladakh.

Neither their Statehood restored nor 6th Schedule was granted. The same practice is being repeated with people of Jammu and Kashmir ahead of Lok Sabha elections.

Earlier Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said the Centre will consider revoking Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act from Jammu and Kashmir and that it has a roadmap to withdraw troops from the Union Territory. (KNS)
