Handwara, Oct 31: The political feud in Jammu and Kashmir intensified as senior National Conference (NC) leader Chowdhary Ramzan launched a blistering counter-attack against Jammu & Kashmir People’s Conference (JKPC) chief Sajad Gani Lone, accused him of political opportunism and of being discarded by the central government.
The verbal war between Chief Minister Omar Abdullah led National Conference and the JKPC has escalated, with daily exchanges overshadowing governance and public welfare issues.
Ramzan, fresh from winning a Rajya Sabha seat, responded to Lone’s persistent criticism of CM Abdullah. Lone has repeatedly labeled the Chief Minister a “failure” and alleged close ties between the NC and the BJP. He went so far as to call the recent Rajya Sabha elections a “fixed match” between the two parties.
In a fiery public address in Handwara, Ramzan as per The Web Story/The Varmul Post mounted a personal and political assault on Lone alleging that Lone “sold guns all his life and then jumped into the lap of Modi.”
You do not need to teach us about duty we are well aware of our responsibilities, Ramzan stated, dismissing Lone’s criticisms. You are the one who has spent a lifetime wielding guns.
He added with a sharp allegation “You arrived here with guns and began fighting alongside Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, but on the inside, you were always with the Centre. When you realized the power of the gun was waning, you started courting BJP’s Modi Ji, bestowing upon him the status of an elder brother.”
But now, Ramzan claimed, even the BJP has seen through him and realized he is of no consequence. They, too, have thrown him into the gutter.
He added, Delhi Has ‘Dumped Sajad Lone Into the Gutter.’ He has no influence left there the central government has cast him aside.
Ramzan further alleged financial impropriety, claiming that Lone received a massive sum of 35 Crore Rupees from the central government for the previous Lok Sabha elections but still failed to win.
“A colleague in the BJP informed me that Sajad Lone took 35 Crore from the Centre. The entire campaign for north Kashmir was orchestrated from Handwara,” he alleged. He also brought up unresolved local debts, including an unpaid Biryani bill of 8 Lakh Rupees and outstanding payments to tent vendors.
Turning Lone’s criticism back on him, Ramzan questioned, You question what our NC candidates will accomplish in the Rajya Sabha? Let me ask you, you contested the Parliament elections—what was your own plan had you won?
