Srinagar, June 08 : The Awami Itihad Party (AIP) Saturday stated that it was their party agenda that helped them win with a huge margin, terming all reports of sympathy votes as baseless and wrong information.

Addressing the media after the historic win in the Lok Sabha Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency seat, the Spokesperson of the jailed leader Er Rashid-led AIP as per The Web Story/The Varmul Post said that there are reports, especially by the opposition political parties, that it was sympathy votes that helped them win, but it was their party agenda that helped them win with a huge margin.

The AIP Spokesperson Firdous Baba further said that while a few emotional videos from the family did help the party gain some votes, that was on a very small scale.

The party spokesperson also thanked the people of north Kashmir, especially the women, who played an important role in helping the party win by a huge margin.

He also thanked the youth, drivers, and others who voluntarily participated and helped the party from campaigning to casting votes to make Er Rashid the winner.

The party Spokesperson said that initially, they were not sure about the approval of the nomination form of their leader; however, it took them a lot of efforts, and they are thankful to all the supporters and the people who made them the winner.

He said that many people are keenly interested in joining AIP, and they also want to reach out to the people, so they are starting a membership drive online soon, and they also invite those who have so far been away from the political setup.

He said that with the support of the people, they can replace the bad name with good politics for the development, peace, and prosperity of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Pertinently, a new record was created with the massive participation of voters in the recently held Lok Sabha Elections across all three seats in Kashmir.

As per the ground survey by The Varmul Post/The Web Story, this was the first such election in which people voted for change and development, breaking away from the old boycott trend.

In the North Kashmir seat, the contest became more interesting when jailed leader Er Rashid filed the nomination papers.

In the Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency seat, a total of 22 candidates were in the fray.

The Varmul Post obtained comprehensive data on the votes cast during the election and the number of votes received by Jailed leader Er. Rashid.

The imprisoned leader, Engineer Rashid, performed exceptionally well across all 18 segments from Karnah to Beerwah, securing a significant number of votes.

As per the voting list, Engineer Rashid garnered a substantial amount of votes in the election. From the border town of Karnah, he secured 20,061 votes, with similar success in other segments such as Trehgam (19,619), Kupwara (22,849), Lolab (28,120), Handwara (19,336), Langate (40,226), Sopore (25,099), Rafiabad (41,041), Uri (28,644), Baramulla (34,357), Gulmarg (25,720), Wagoora Kreeri (20,685), Pattan (17,112). In addition, 2,973 postal and migrant votes were cast in his favor.

Meanwhile, the voter turnout in the Kashmir Valley alone witnessed a remarkable 30-point increase compared to the 2019 elections, rising from 19.16% to 50.86%. Srinagar, Baramulla, and Anantnag-Rajouri constituencies recorded voter turnouts of 38.49%, 59.1%, and 54.84%, respectively. The other two constituencies, Udhampur and Jammu, had even higher turnouts of 68.27% and 72.22%, showcasing the enthusiastic participation of the electorate.
