Sopore, April 26 : The exchange of fire between militants and security forces resumed on Friday after a night-long lull at the gunfight in Nowpora area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district where two militants are believed to be trapped.
An official told The Web Story/The Varmul Post firing resumed at encounter site early this morning and continued for around ten minutes even as the area remained under a tight cordon for the second consecutive day since Thursday afternoon.
He said in the initial stage of gunfight two soldiers were injured who were immediately taken to MI hospital where the condition of both are said to be stable.
The official said that the area was cordoned with additional security forces on Thursday late evening to ensure that terrorists engaged in the encounter do not escape from the area.
This is second such operation in the last 48 hours in the northern region of Kashmir.
Two Army soldiers were injured during an anti-militancy operation at Bandipora woods on Wednesday.
