Sopore, Nov. 26: In a heartwarming gesture, Fayaz Ahmad Lone, a government officer in the Kashmir department, is going above and beyond his professional duties to revive the traditional art form of “Bhand Pather” in North Kashmir.

Fayaz Ahmad Lone, who is currently serving as the Tehsil Welfare Social Officer in Sopore, is making a remarkable impact by organizing tours and performances for senior citizens.

His initiative aims to provide them with moments of happiness, allowing them to share their experiences and create lasting memories within a supportive community.

Bhand Pather, a traditional folk theater, had been largely forgotten in north Kashmir’s Sopore until Fayaz Ahmad took it upon himself to revive it.

Through departmental schemes and funding, he ensures that artists are called upon to perform and breathe new life into this dying art form.

Talking to The Web Story, he said, “I am personally on a mission to revive Bhand Pather. I am presenting it in a different way and using it to deliver messages on various social issues.”

“My goal is to attract the youth and create awareness through this traditional art form,” Fayaz Ahmad said.

Through this initiative, not only do the elderly and the artists of Bhand Pather enjoy beautiful moments together, but it also serves as a reminder to value and care for our elders and to respect them for their wisdom and contributions to society, he added.

Fayaz Ahmad Lone’s dedication and efforts to revive Bhand Pather not only bring joy to the lives of senior citizens but also breathe new life into this cherished cultural heritage, preserving it for generations to come.
