Srinagar, Mar 10 : Ghulam Qadir Lone, former General Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami (JEI), is set to embark on a spiritual journey to perform Umrah today.
Sources told The Web Story/The Varmul Post that Lone is expected to meet prominent Jamaat ideologues, including Abdul Rashid Turabi and Nazir Ahmad Qureshi, during his pilgrimage.
The meeting is viewed as a significant effort to strengthen ties and build consensus, particularly in persuading Pakistan to recognize the panel as the legitimate representative of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Sources further revealed that this initiative follows a similar visit last month by Mohammed Afzal Lone of Millat Publications, who traveled to Pakistan and engaged with key stakeholders, including Salahudin, to advance the same cause.
The Government of India’s facilitation of these efforts—by issuing passports and permitting their travel—underscores a constructive approach toward fostering peaceful dialogue and mutual understanding, sources added.
