Srinagar, Oct 4 : The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has issued directions allowing eligible officers and officials of its Srinagar Wing to switch over from the National Pension System (NPS) to the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).
According to an order issued by the Registrar Judicial Srinagar accessed The Web Story/The Varmul Post, the decision comes in pursuance of a communication from the Registrar General and a Government Order dated September 28, 2026.
The provision is specifically applicable to staff members who joined service on or after January 1, 2010, but were appointed against posts or vacancies that were officially advertised or notified prior to December 24, 2009 — the date of issuance of SRO-400.
“All the Officers and Officials of the Srinagar Wing who are currently covered under the Defined Contribution Pension Scheme (NPS) are hereby notified to exercise their option to switch to the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), provided they meet the eligibility criteria,” the order stated.
Eligible officials seeking to avail the benefit must submit their details using the prescribed format.
The fully completed option forms must reach the office by or before October 6, 2026, without fail, to ensure smooth and timely onward transmission to the office of the Registrar General, the order added.
