Srinagar, Oct 05 : The BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir unit on Monday hit out at Srinagar MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, accusing him of double standards and branding him a “cunning Dimaghi Naxal masquerading as a political leader.
The BJP’s outburst came after the National Conference MP said in a post on X, “We will talk about Muzaffarabad — but from a position of strength.” In the same post, Ruhullah described the reality Kashmiris live with today, citing checkpoints every few kilometres, youth jailed since 2019, and a verification regime that costs people their jobs and passports. He alleged that journalists have been booked under the UAPA and that people have been made second-class citizens in their own land.

The MP said that before 2019, Kashmiris could speak from a place of empowerment, but today they are “disempowered, degraded,” with their “hands tied and tongues locked.” He signed off with the words, “Dignity first. Then every conversation.”
Responding sharply, the BJP said, “No Aga Syed, we know you will NEVER talk about Muzaffarabad. You will never utter a word against your masters sitting across the border. Let us expose your double standards and your fake ‘slavery’ narrative.”
Notably, The war of words marks the latest flashpoint in the political confrontation over Jammu and Kashmir, with the BJP accusing the opposition MP of peddling a victimhood narrative, while Ruhullah maintained that dignity must come before any dialogue.
