Srinagar: Candlelight marches and the lighting of diyas were held in memory of the army and police officers martyred in the Kokernag encounter. Police suspect that two LeT militants are responsible for the deaths of three officers.
Residents from various districts of Kashmir came together on Thursday evening to participate in candlelight marches in honor of Commanding Officer Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhonack, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Humayun Bhat, who lost their lives in an encounter with militants on Wednesday.

People carried signboards with messages like “In Their Honor, We Stand Strong,” “Lives Lost, Courage Remains,” and “Martyrs Never Forgotten, Terrorism Must End” during a massive rally in south Kashmir’s Pulwama, according to The Web Story Correspondent.
Similar rallies and candlelight marches were organized in north Kashmir’s Baramulla, Handwara, Sopore, Bandipora and Wagoora to express solidarity with the families of the martyred officers.
