New Delhi : Twenty-six civilians were killed in a terror attack in Pahalgam in Jammu & Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday, sources said reported NDTV.
The attack took place at Baisaran, a meadow accessible only by foot or ponies, where a group of tourists had gone visiting this morning. The number of deaths are still being ascertained, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said, as he described the terror attack as “much larger than anything we’ve seen directed at civilians in recent years”.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephonic conversation with Union Home Minister Amti Shah and asked him to take “suitable measures”. Mr Shah, the sources said, has left for Srinagar to take stock of the situation. He will hold an urgent security review meeting with all the agencies NDTV reported.
