Danish Farooq, the Kashmiri footballer known as “Kashmiri Ronaldo,” has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with Kerela Blasters, one of the eleven teams participating in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL).
The central midfielder started his football career with Chinar FC, a village team in Srinagar, before joining Lone Star FC and eventually JK Bank FC, the “Power House of Kashmir.” Farooq played for Real Kashmir FC, the only professional football club in Kashmir, as a lone player and was the top scorer for the team.
His dribbling skills and goal-scoring abilities earned him the nickname “Kashmiri Ronaldo” from the spectators at his games. Farooq’s success has left a mark on every soccer field in the Kashmir Valley and even young children recognize his name.
The news of Farooq joining Kerela Blasters has been met with pride and happiness by the Kashmir News Hub team. It is a great achievement for the local lad to make it to a national level team. Farooq will be seen in a yellow jersey for the upcoming Indian Super League matches.
