The Department of Management Studies at the North Campus of the University of Kashmir emerged victorious in the Zonal Round of the RBI Policy Challenge 2023. The competition took place on December 6th in New Delhi. Represented by a team of four students from the IMBA 8th semester and one faculty advisor, the department showcased their exceptional understanding of financial policies.
The team, consisting of Noureen Jan, Irtiqa Naaz, Madiha Shabir, Bazila Mehraj, and their faculty advisor Dr. Umer Mushtaq Lone, stood out in the regional round of the challenge, earning them a place in the highly competitive Zonal round. The competition saw teams from various regions, including Himachal Pradesh, New Delhi, Chandigarh, Dehradun, as well as prestigious institutions like Jawahar Lal Nehru University and IMT-Gaziabad.
The Zonal Round focused on the topic of “Policy measures to leverage digital modes of payments, like UPI, for fostering financial inclusion and bringing the still unbanked section of India’s population within the formal financial system,” with special reference to the RBI’s Payments Vision 2025 document. The team presented four challenges that require immediate attention and proposed policy measures to address them.
The Department of Management Studies at the North Campus showcased outstanding analytical skills and a comprehensive understanding of the given theme, securing them the top position in the North Zone. As winners of the Zonal round, the team will now represent the North Zone in the National Round of the RBI Policy Challenge 2023, which will be held in Mumbai.
The upcoming National Level competition, set to take place at the RBI Central Office, will provide the team from the North Campus of the University of Kashmir with an opportunity to further demonstrate their expertise and innovative solutions in the field of financial policies.
