Srinagar : Militants managed to give slip to the security forces after engaging them in a brief encounter in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Sunday.
An official told The Web Story after a brief exchange of fire between the joint team and the militants, the guns fell silent in Redbugh area of Budgam on Sunday.
The officer said after an initial exchange of fire, no contact was established with the militants, he said taking the advantage of darkness, militants escaped from the area.
The search operation has been now extended to neighbouring villages, the officer added.
Meanwhile, Security forces in Poonch district busted a militant hideout and recovered arms & ammunition including three AK rifles and 10 hand grenades on Sunday.
As per official a joint team of Army and Jammu and Kashmir police launched a Cordon and Search Operation in Bachian Wali village of Surankote in Poonch district during which a militant hideout was unearthed under some rocks.
They said that arms and ammunition have been recovered from the hideout that include 3 AK rifles, 3 AK rifle magazines, 28 bullets, 10 hand grenades and one UBGL.
