Good Governance, Transparency, and Accountability missing from the on-ground: Bukhari
Srinagar: Senior leaders of the People’s Conference (PC) on Saturday said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are suffering due to the historical, and political blunders committed by National Conference leadership.
Senior Vice President, J&K People’s Conference, and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil said that history is a testament to the fact that NC can go to any extent in order to satiate its lust for power.
Vakil asserted Kashmiris are facing the brunt of the 1987 rigged elections. If the NC government wouldn’t rig elections the situation wouldn’t have been what we are facing for the last 3 decades. The blatant rigging of 1987 resulted in an eruption of militancy and subsequent bloodshed in J&K. To this day, we are facing the brunt. “For things to change and peace to return, the culprits of 1987 must be held accountable,” Vakil said. Vakil was addressing a party workers’ convention in Jammu today.
Syed Basharat Bukhari, Vice President of the People’s Conference and former minister, addressed the convention, saying that the People’s Conference will always fight to ensure equitable development of all regions of Jammu and Kashmir while strengthening the J&K’s bonds of unity and integrity, which is the need of the hour. He described the political situation in general in J&K as “quite fluid,” where good governance, transparency, and accountability are missing from the scene, and in particular, the administration is behaving like a mute spectator.
