MeT forecasts wet spell till Oct 14; hailstorm and gusty winds likely at isolated places
Srinagar, Oct 05: A fresh spell of rain and snowfall is likely over parts of Jammu and Kashmir in the next 24 hours under the influence of a Western Disturbance, an independent weather forecaster said on Monday.
According to Kashmir Weather, thundershowers are likely at some places in the plains, while snowfall is possible over the extreme higher reaches.
Temperatures have remained significantly above normal during the last few days, and hailstorm and gusty winds cannot be ruled out at a few places, it said.
Meanwhile, The Meteorological Department Srinagar has also forecast a fresh spell of rain and snowfall in the higher reaches from October 6.
From October 6 to 8, partly to generally cloudy weather is expected, with light rain at a few places and light snowfall over the higher reaches. Thunder and gusty winds are also likely during the period.
A more active weather spell is forecast for October 9 and 10, with generally cloudy skies and light to moderate rain at scattered to many places, along with light snowfall over higher reaches, thunder and gusty winds.
Partly cloudy weather is expected to prevail from October 11 to 14, the MeT office said.
