A fourth-year medical student, Arsalan Kanjwal, hailing from Noor Bagh area in Sopore, passed away in Iran. The news of his demise has left his family devastated, who are now seeking assistance to repatriate his body back to Kashmir.
Kanjwal’s family, based in Sopore, has made an urgent appeal for swift aid to expedite the repatriation process so that his last rites can be performed in his hometown.
According to a friend of the deceased, Arsalan Kanjwal, he had not been answering calls since the previous night. In the morning, when his friends repeatedly attempted to contact him, they received no response. Eventually, they had to break open the door to his room, only to find him lifeless.
The Jammu & Kashmir Students Association, represented by Nasir Khuehami, has taken up the matter with the Ministry of External Affairs and the office of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to ensure the prompt repatriation of Arsalan’s mortal remains. Khuehami expressed hope that they have been assured of the speedy return of the mortal remains within the next two days, providing some solace to the grieving family.
Additionally, the family is urging immediate contact with the embassy and the university in Iran to navigate the necessary procedures smoothly and efficiently. This is a distressing time for the family, and they are appealing for all possible assistance to bring Arsalan’s body back home for his final rites.
