Gulmarg: Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur said on Friday that after the revocation of Article 370, Jammu and Kashmir is experiencing a new era of peace and progress.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 3rd Khelo India Winter Games in Gulmarg, Thakur credited the shift from violence to sports to the BJP government. He stated that sports have replaced stone pelting in Kashmir.
“We are now witnessing football, wushu, wrestling, Kabaddi, and other games, a place where stone-pelting occurrences were common,” he added.
He claimed that young people are now speaking up, getting involved in various sports, and advocating for Kashmir on many platforms.
Anurag termed the situation quite peaceful and said this is a sign of “Badalta hua Kashmir,” where youth even during the night are playing under floodlights.
He said the hidden talent of Jammu and Kashmir is coming forward and making the union territory and India proud.
Earlier in the day, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said sports is such a medium which can change everything and it will not change the athletes behavior but can change the whole scenario of the world.
