Sopore, Oct 23: The Parliamentarian from North Kashmir and Awami Itehad Party (AIP) chief, Shiekh Abdul Rashid, popularly known as Er Rashid, urged the people of Sopore to allow their elected MLA to perform his duties and keep politics aside.
Speaking at a public meeting at the Dak Bungalow in Sopore, Er Rashid as per The Web Story /The Varmul Post Correspondent emphasized the importance of letting the elected MLA focus on the development and welfare of Sopore, asking the community to cooperate and support him.
He stated that he would visit Sopore every 15 days in order to meet the expectations of the people for the development and improvement of the town.
During his second visit to Sopore, Er Rashid chaired a meeting where he listened to the grievances and issues faced by the town’s residents, assuring them that action would be taken on all concerns and that Sopore would head towards development and improvement.
On his previous visit to Sopore a week ago, the Baramulla MP met with the Bar Association, the Kashmir Fruit Growers and Dealers Association, the Kashmir Valley Fruit Buyers and Forwarding Agents Union, and inspected the Sub-District Hospital of Sopore to evaluate healthcare services.
To support the Bar Association, Er Rashid announced an allocation of ₹10 lakh from his MPLAD fund for this year and pledged an additional ₹10 lakh for the next year. This funding is intended for enhancing the bar room, washroom, and other facilities.
Notably, in the recently held Assembly Elections for the Sopore constituency, 20 candidates contested, including two-time winner Haji Abdul Rashid, AIP candidate Advocate Mursaleen, and PDP’s Irfan Ali, among others.
Irshad Rasool Kar, the National Conference candidate, received 26,975 votes, while Advocate Mursaleen came in second with 6,619 votes, and two-time former MLA Haji Abdul Rashid Dar garnered 5,167 votes.
