Says War Solves Nothing

Baramulla, Oct 14: Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Surinder Choudhary, has urged the Indian government to revive dialogue with Pakistan, warning that rising tensions between the two nations disproportionately harm the poor.
Speaking to media at Dak Bungalow Baramulla, as per The Web Story/ The Varmul Post, Choudhary questioned “If India can play cricket with Pakistan and host ministers from Afghanistan, why can’t it hold talks with Pakistan?” he asked.
He stressed that the brunt of hostility is borne by ordinary citizens. “Because of this stubbornness, it is the poor who die, people who have nothing to do with war,” he remarked. “Even those who do not know the spelling of ‘war’ end up suffering its consequences.”
Deputy CM maintained that armed conflict is no solution to the long-standing issues between India and Pakistan. “The people of Jammu and Kashmir have always suffered because of wars,” he said, adding pointedly, “Those who talk about war should be brought to the border to see what actually happens.”
He also criticised sections of the media, suggesting that “war coverage may improve TRP ratings, but the poor, whose homes were destroyed in the last conflict, still await compensation.”
Choudhary said that people in Jammu and Kashmir have always stood behind the armed forces and kept the national flag flying, yet remain deeply impacted by military operations. “War is not the solution to any problem,” he reiterated.
Drawing attention to the modern technological landscape, he emphasised that warfare has changed but its consequences remain grim. “Pakistan can strike anywhere from its soil, and our forces can reach any corner of Pakistan. But war benefits neither nation. Both governments must reconsider their approach. This stubbornness only hurts the common man it is the ordinary poor who pay the price.”
