Sopore, Jun 3 : As many as 31 Divyangjans were provided with 63 aids and assistive devices at a distribution camp organised under the CSR initiative of J&K Bank here on Wednesday.
The camp was held at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Sopore, and was organised by the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), Mohali, under the aegis of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, in collaboration with the District Administration and Social Welfare Department of Baramulla.
Officials present at the event included ADC Sopore Shabir Ahmad Raina, Tehsildar Sopore Sheikh Tariq, J&K Bank Senior Manager Anayat Sheikh, the Principal of the host school, Social Welfare Officer Wasim Ahmad, and ALIMCO officials Kanika Mehta and Muzamil Bhatt.
The devices, valued at approximately Rs 2.74 lakh, included one motorised tricycle, five tricycles, one wheelchair, six walking sticks, one walker, two TLM kits, six crutches, 18 hearing aids, three rollators, one CP chair, eight knee braces, one smartphone, two Sugamya canes and eight calipers.
The beneficiaries were identified and registered earlier during an assessment camp conducted in June 2025 by ALIMCO in association with the Social Welfare Department, officials added.
