Condemns Arson Attempt at Baramulla’s New Astro Turf
Baramulla, Dec 08 : JKPC Youth Leader Faraaz Ashraf has expressed deep anguish and strong condemnation over the shameful incident of attempted arson at the newly constructed Astro Turf in Azad Gunj, Baramulla.
In a statement, Ashraf highlighted that this act of vandalism transcends an attack on mere infrastructure. “This isn’t an attack on a playground; it’s an attack on public money, on youth development, and on our collective future,” he stated. “The turf represents an investment in our children’s health, talent, and well-being.”
Ashraf appealed directly to the local administration, urging them to take immediate and stringent measures. He called for 24×7 security deployment, comprehensive CCTV surveillance, and strict legal action against those responsible to prevent any such future attempts and to deliver justice.
Shifting focus to community responsibility, the youth leader addressed the public directly. “This turf is for you, for your children. It is a space built for healthier lifestyles, for nurturing sports talent, and for keeping our youth positively engaged and away from drugs and social evils,” he emphasized. “Protecting this asset is our shared duty. We must be the guardians of our own development.”
Faraz said, “Baramulla deserves better. We cannot allow the misguided actions of a few to sabotage progress meant for all. Let’s stand together, vigilant and united, to safeguard what rightfully belongs to our community.”
The Astro Turf, a recent addition to Baramulla’s public infrastructure, has been widely welcomed as a modern facility for youth sports and recreation.
