The union territory of Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed athletes contributing towards upliftment of sports and working tirelessly for bringing the young talent to the fore. One such athlete is Aadil Manzoor Peer an International Ice stock Athlete playing for India since 2018.
Aadil, a resident of Halmatpora Kupwara has been working diligently towards the upliftment of sports in the valley and working closely with Growth Sports Academy towards the development of the sport in the valley by training young talents and organizing events for them.
“I am looking forward to representing the country in the winter Olympics 2026 in Italy. I believe that Ice Stock will be on the 2026 Winter Olympic sports list as the game has been granted recognition from the Olympic committee,” Aadil said in a conversation with Webstory.
“I believe with the right guidance and support I would definitely make my country proud in the upcoming winter Olympics,” he added.
Hailing from the small village of Halmatpora in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, Aadil is looking for sponsorships to help him in training the youth and tournament expenses.
“I worked hard and made my way to the International Arena to represent the proud Country of India. Now, I want to train youth and provide them with a platform so that they can compete at an international level ,” Aadil said.
Aadil Manzoor Peer is a Gold Medallist of the Khelo India Winter Games with 3 Gold Medals in the different events of Ice stock.
He has also won 16 gold medals and 4 silver medals at National Level Championships in Icestock.
“In the World Championship 2022, I led the Indian team to the 8th rank in the world,” Aadil added.
He is also a trained Martial Art player (Pencak Silat (Indonesian Martial Art)) and has recently won Gold Medal in the Senior National Pencak Silat Championship 2022 at GHG College Ludhiana.
Peer said that he has won a Silver Medal in the Federation Cup 2022 at Lovely Professional University.
“I represented India in the Pencak Silat World Championship in Malaysia in July 2022 where I remained at the 8th place after this. I also won the Bronze Medal in the recently held 6th Senior Asian Pencak Silat Championship 2022 which was held from 11 to 17 October 2022,” Aadil Manzoor Peer further said.
Besides sports, Aadil has a Bachelors in Computer Applications from University of Kashmir and is pursuing Masters in Information Technology from University of Kashmir.
