In an interview with The Web Story/The Varmul Post, Nashra shared her journey: “I did my schooling in Kishtwar, then graduated with a BE in Electrical Engineering from Jammu University in 2012. However, I got married in 2014 and now have two kids.”
She started preparing for the JKAS exam in 2014. “KAS was on my mind during my graduation. In 2016, I made my first attempt but couldn’t succeed. I tried again and failed, and then tried once more before I succeeded on my fourth attempt. I never accepted failure; I always tried to fight back, believing that success was waiting for me no matter how many attempts it took.”
She said that “failure is never the end; it’s always a fresh start. I believe that after every failed attempt, there is a new beginning and a new chance to work even harder until you succeed.”
When asked if being a mother and navigating life with in-laws posed challenges in pursuing her dreams, Nashra said it all depends on the support system. “Alhamdulillah, my husband has been a key player among my supporters. My parents also played a vital role in encouraging me to maintain a positive mindset and stay focused on my goals.”
“There are hurdles and many difficulties,” she acknowledged, “but if you are determined to achieve something, there definitely comes a day when you will reach your destination.”
Nashra said that at one point she thought about giving up because “my kids needed me more. They were at an age where they needed me, so I thought I had to be there for them. But then my kids encouraged me, saying, ‘Mom, don’t give up, keep going and fight for your dreams.’ They never let me feel like I had failed.”
“The whole family dreamed of my success, from my husband to my kids to my parents. It was a mission made possible. Sometimes I felt my failures were shattering my family’s dreams.”
“It wasn’t easy; it took me 10 years to make this dream come true. In fulfilling this dream, the aspirations of my entire family were involved.”
Nashra expressed her gratitude to her husband, stating that his supportive nature brought her this far. “Without his encouragement, it wouldn’t have been possible. I feel blessed to have a husband who motivates me to pursue my dreams.”
In a message to aspiring candidates, Nashra advised: “Do not underestimate your potential; never give up. Maintain your consistency, keep trying. Failure is a part of the journey, but hard work always pays off.”
