Bandipora, 20 Aug: In the midst of a harrowing earthquake which shook the Kashmir Valley on Tuesday, a young woman lost her life due to electrocution in the Odina area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Reports reaching The Web Story/The Varmul Post said a 42-year-old woman, Rafiqa Begum, wife of Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, a resident of Odina, Sumbal, was severely injured due to electrocution during the earthquake. Immediately after the two back-to-back tremors, Rafiqa was rushed to the Trauma Hospital in Pattan, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

The earthquakes, measuring 4.7 and 4.8 on the Richter scale, struck the Kashmir Valley in quick succession, with the epicenter located in Baramulla.

Meanwhile, Authorities sprang into action, working to assess any damage and ensure the safety of local residents.
