Shahida Praveen Ganguly, the first female police officer in Jammu and Kashmir, recently appeared on the singing reality show ‘Indian Idol 13’ to recount her journey in establishing herself in the police force as a woman.
Shahida, a former Assistant Commissioner of Police, CID Cell Jammu & Kashmir, and lady encounter specialist, talked about facing gender barriers in her career as per The Web Story.
Despite the challenges, she never wavered in her determination and fearlessly took on her duties in sensitive areas and conflict zones.
When asked about fear, Shahida said, “To be honest, there is no such thing as fear, it’s only your intrinsic thoughts.” She added that as a woman, she had faced not only barbed wire barriers but also gender barriers.
Shahida Praveen Ganguly was a celebrity guest on the ‘Republic Day Special’ episode of the show, alongside other members of the Army and Navy forces, and CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force).
The contestants entertained the judges and guests with patriotic songs, with Debomsita Roy impressing everyone with her exceptional performance, earning praise from judge Himesh Reshammiya.
