Srinagar: The traditional firepot (Kanger), which is also known as the “Winter Queen,” is in demand in the Kashmir markets with the arrival of a harsh winter in the region.
People across the valley find it most convenient to save themselves against the biting cold, so not only has its demand increased but the rates in the market have also increased.
The traditional firepot (Kanger) has not lost its worth despite modern heating systems.
According to a news agency KNO, a Kangri vendor outside Hazratbal Srinagar sold 20 kangris after Friday congregational prayers.
It is pertinent to mention here that this traditional firepot is also a source of income for thousands of people in Kashmir.
