Mehreen Banday is a proud girl and famous among the women flock, for her Karate skills.
In an interview with The Web Story, first-year college student Mehreen said that she started her journey in this sport in 2015. Mehreen said that this sport was hardly known to the people in Kashmir, especially in her district when she showcased her Karate skills.

“During my initial days, I was criticized severely by all, but I never bothered and always took the criticism in a positive way just to fulfill my dream,” she said.
During that stage, Mehreen used to pay money to continue her training with spirit and energy.
“Alhamdulillah, today’s result is in front of all as I had won five gold medals and one silver medal in just six national level tournaments,” she said.
The Handwara’s proud daughter admitted that when she first began her journey of Karate, it was really challenging to balance studying and continuing to train to improve as an athlete.
“I am proud of my parents, who never became obstacles in any of my endeavours and always encouraged me to live my dreams,” Mehreen added.
Mehreen claimed that the efforts put forward had finally paid off when she participated in the Kerala National Championship trials and took home the gold.
In recent days, Mehreen claimed to have earned a silver medal in the Women’s Wushu Premier League in Srinagar.
Recalling her remarkable and fruitful career, in which she has garnered five gold and one silver medal, Mehreen said the young girls of Kashmir need to participate in self defence games.
She has won Budokan Karate 2017: Gold; Budokan Karate 2018: Gold; 10th Kudos National 2019: Silver; 11th Kudo National 2020-21: Gold; 1st Kudo Federation National Championship 2020-21: Gold; 5th International Karate Championship, 2022: Gold
