BARAMULLA, DEC 10 ; A district administration podcast, “Jehlum Se Chenab Tak,” has evolved beyond its original scope to become a critical conduit of information, directly connecting Jammu and Kashmir’s citizens especially people of district Baramulla with government schemes and initiatives.
Produced by the District Information Office (DIO), the program is now widely regarded as an essential public resource, demystifying bureaucratic processes and enabling tangible community benefits.
“It is not only a podcast, it has become a vital source of awareness,” said Khurshid Ahmad, a farmer from Sopore. “This platform informs us about various government schemes—assistance that was often announced but rarely explained in a way that reached us.”
Speaking to The Web Story/The Varmul Post, he emphasized the podcast’s role in transparency, adding, “The team behind this deserves recognition. They are making a real difference in people’s lives.”
Saleema Begum, a mother of three, highlighted a recent episode detailing the Jammu & Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM-Umeed) scheme. “When District Programme Manager Saqib Shafi explained the process, it opened doors. Such knowledge doesn’t just help us seek opportunities; it helps us create them,” she stated.
For farmer Saleem Ahmad, the initiative is transformative. “This is the need of the hour. Instead of navigating complex loan processes, we can now access structured support to improve our livelihoods directly,” he stated.
Waseem Ahmad a businessman said that Transparency is a two-way street. This podcast doesn’t just inform citizens, it holds officials accountable. When policies are explained publicly in plain language, it raises the standard for clarity and execution. It’s fostering a new culture of communication.
As a small business owner, I don’t have time to scour websites. Listening to an interview about the schemes while I work was a revelation. It’s efficiency and empowerment, delivered directly to my ears said Bilal Ahmad a Pattan based enterpreneur.
The podcast’s success is underpinned by a significant investment in digital infrastructure. Last month, Deputy Commissioner Baramula Minga Sherpa inaugurated a state-of-the-art multimedia studio for the DIO, equipped with professional-grade technology, including high-definition video production tools, drone units, and an advanced audio suite.
District Information Officer Iftikhar Naseem linked the studio’s capabilities directly to public service. “This strategic upgrade enhances our capacity to manage daily communications and broadcast high-profile events with clarity and reach,” he said. “It ensures that vital information is not just disseminated but is accessible and actionable for every citizen.”
Notably, The modern “Jehlum Se Chenab Tak” facility signals a proactive shift into digital-era governance. This move places the Baramulla administration at the forefront of responsive and inclusive public engagement.
