Sopore, Mar. 02 : The women in Kashmir have been making remarkable achievements in various fields, from sports to education and entrepreneurship. With the peaceful environment after the Abrogation of Article 370, women in Kashmir are no longer dependent on men and are leading the way in every sector.
The entrepreneurial spirit among women in Kashmir is flourishing, cultivating a culture of women-led businesses. With increased support from Government women are establishing successful start-ups and enterprises, contributing significantly to the economy of the region. The women entrepreneurs are not only making a mark for themselves but also empowering other women by providing employment opportunities and establishing women-centric businesses.
One such example is Naira Noor, a resident of Sopore, who passed out in the science stream but has become a successful fashion designer.
In an interview with The Web Story/The Varmul Post, Naira shared her journey from science to art.
“After completing my graduation in science, I decided to pursue my passion for art instead of continuing my education in the scientific field,” Naira told The Web Story/The Varmul Post.
“I enrolled in an art school and chose fashion designing as my future career.”
When asked why she specifically chose fashion designing, Naira revealed, “It had always been my childhood passion. I loved creating different designs and patterns, which inspired me to pursue a career in fashion. I expressed my gratitude to my parents for supporting my decision to choose art as my path.”
Naira discussed the challenges she faced as a woman entering a male-dominated society, but credited the unwavering support from her family for her success. With their encouragement, she completed her fashion degree at SSM College and wasted no time in starting her own venture in Sopore.
Her venture, Noor Boutique, caters exclusively to ladies and has become a popular destination for fashion enthusiasts. Naira emphasized the importance of customer satisfaction and shared that they work according to the demands and preferences of their clients. The boutique provides services across North Kashmir.
Over the past four years, a multitude of women across the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir have emerged as role models with their inspiring success stories in diverse fields.
These women have made the nation proud, demonstrating that women in Kashmir are no longer reliant on male support and are capable of achieving great heights independently.
