Shopian, Jan 05: A militant was killed in a gunfight in the Chotigam area of Shopian district in south Kashmir.
An official informed The Web Story that on Friday a joint team of Police and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Chotigam.
The operation was initiated based on intelligence about militant movement and turned into an encounter when the personnel were fired upon by the hiding militants.
During the exchange of gunfire that followed, one militant was killed, according to official sources.
The search operation is still ongoing, official added.
