Srinagar, Oct 29 : The Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) has not carried out any development work in the Sopore constituency over the past two years, as confirmed by the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department.

This information was disclosed in a written reply to Sopore MLA Irshad Rasool Kar during the ongoing autumn session of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly.

The department clarified that the constituency does not fall under the jurisdiction of the Wullar-Manasbal Development Authority. However, it noted that the Hygam-Ningli-Tarzoo Development Authority has undertaken various projects there, with their details and current status provided in an official annexure.

Significantly, the reply stated that the Hygam-Ningli-Tarzoo Development Authority has no new projects planned around Wular Lake and its waterways for the forthcoming financial year. Conservation efforts in the area fall primarily under the mandate of the Wular Conservation & Management Authority (WUCMA).
