Sharda Temple Lights Up with Diwali Celebration After 75 Years of Prayers

Kupwara, Nov 12 ; After 75 years, the festival of lights was brought back to life at the Sharda Temple in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, Prayers and celebrations marked the occasion of Diwali at the temple along the line of control (LOC).
An official told The Web Story that this was the first Diwali celebration at the temple since the partition, when the temple and gurudwara were tragically burned down during tribal raids.
He said that there was an atmosphere of immense happiness as people came together to celebrate this auspicious occasion of Diwali, the festival of lights, at the temple.
The festivities saw active participation from the local community as well as members of the Sikh community from Tribhoni village, enhancing the joyous atmosphere.
The celebration included the performance of the Satyanarayan Puja and the distribution of sweets among the attendees, fostering a sense of communal joy he added.
Meanwhile, Ravinder Pandith, the head and founder of the Seva Sharda committee, expressed his gratitude to the Modi-led government for making this historic event happen after 75 years in Teetwal.
He mentioned that the Diwali celebration at the Sharda temple not only revived a cherished tradition but also became a symbol of hope for cultural understanding and harmony in the region.
He further stated that devotees continue to celebrate Diwali here today, along with their prayers and festivities.
