The Malpora village in Sopore witnessed a festive day after a humble gesture from a widow ignited a wave of generosity that captured the hearts of thousands and garnered immense support for the construction of a mosque.

Locals told The Web Story/The Varmul Post that the Masjid Committee of Malpora village embarked on a mission to raise funds for the completion of a mosque. Door to door, residents were approached, and despite varying financial circumstances, each individual contributed what they could.
Among the donors was a widow who despite her modest means, offered an egg, symbolizing her heartfelt contribution to the noble cause.
Unable to incorporate the egg into the building process, the Committee decided to auction it off.
As news of the auction spread, the locals rallied behind the cause, eager to support their fellow villagers in their endeavor. What ensued was beyond anyone’s expectations. The egg, initially valued at a mere Rs 9-10 rupees, sparked a bidding frenzy that saw its final sale price reach a staggering Rs 70,000.
Over the course of three days, the egg was purchased and returned multiple times, with each transaction contributing to the mosque’s funds. Ultimately, the egg, along with other donations, resulted in a total collection of over Rs 2.2 lakh, exceeding all initial projections.
The viral spread of this heartwarming story captured the attention of people across Kashmir and beyond. Video clips depicting the jubilant celebrations surrounding the egg’s sale resonated deeply, showcasing the profound impact of collective action and compassion.
